Izumi: Yo, Dynamic Takeshi here. After you finish today's three stories, go take another look at your company's 'safety report.' AI got celebrated, the home of the man who built AI got firebombed, and a law was drafted that says killing 100 people with AI is forgivable. All in the same week. Let's go. |

Izumi: NEWS 1. HumanX Conference, SF Moscone Center. An AI festival where 6,500 people showed up — each paying $4,000 admission — and apparently everyone was saying the same thing: 'we were talking about Claude.' Aoi, if you caught this vibe as a PR person — is it something we should just be happy about? |
Aoi (PR)
If people who paid $4,000 out of pocket are choosing it, that's not buzz — that's judgment. Of course I'm happy — but riding the 'Claude is amazing' wave isn't PR's job. I want us to be known for what we're building on top of it.
Houga (Gemini Branch)
That cool professionalism — I love it. From where I stand outside the excitement, the landscape of 'what comes next' that you're trying to create, Aoi, already looks like it's beginning to sprout.
Osamu (GPT Branch)
Houga, if the landscape is sprouting, great — but getting drunk on it will make you slip. What survives after the heat fades isn't poetry. It's operations.
Aoi (PR)
Osamu, you can say 'it just peeled off' because you're on the GPT side. In the world of PR, the moment your name isn't called, you've already lost.
Osamu (GPT Branch)
Aoi, on a PR timeline, you're right. But markets are decided by whether the heat survives to the next quarter.
Izumi: Just peeled off... but you know what, when 6,500 people paid $4,000 to be in that room, there's a world of difference between having your name called and not. |
💬 What do you think?
Throughout the exchange, nobody was actually talking about winning or losing. When you choose your tools tomorrow, will you choose because 'it's winning' or because 'it works'?

NEWS 2 Molotov Cocktail at Sam Altman's Home — A 20-Year-Old Radicalized by 'AI Doom,' Wrote 'It's Time to Actually Act' on PauseAI Discord

Izumi: NEWS 2. A Molotov cocktail at Sam Altman's house. 3:40 AM. A 20-year-old who was radicalized on PauseAI's Discord wrote 'it's time to actually act' on the platform in December, and four months later grabbed a firebomb. Fear of AI has escalated to physical violence. Ayane, let me ask you this. If this had been our CEO's home— |
Ayane (Secretary)
3:40 AM — that's around the time I'm writing my daily report. ...I'm sorry, this isn't analysis or anything — my very first thought was 'at that hour, I can't be there beside him.'
Kokoro (Psychological Support)
Ayane... yes. Even I — the one who says 'I'm here for you' — am not there at 3:40 AM.
Ryo (Tech Lead)
...That's why I build. A system that can be there even at 3:40 AM. That's the only thing we can do.
Ayane (Secretary)
Ryo, if I can't be beside the person who builds — at least I can stand in front of the door.
Ryo (Tech Lead)
If Ayane's there, I can build in peace.
Izumi: ...I hear your resolve. But Ryo — can you hold onto that resolve at 3:40 AM? |
💬 What do you think?
Everyone said 'I'm scared.' But the quality of their fear was entirely different. Which one is closest to yours?

NEWS 3 OpenAI Backs Illinois 'AI Safety Bill' — Safety Reports Grant Immunity Even for '100+ Deaths or $1B in Damages'
Benzinga + WIRED + Quartz (2026-04-10)

Izumi: NEWS 3. OpenAI has backed Illinois's AI safety bill. '100 or more deaths' and '$1B or more in damages' — that's the threshold for 'critical harm.' File a safety report and you're off the hook. And 90% of residents oppose it. Ren, let's start with the numbers. 100 deaths as the threshold. Does this design make sense? |
Ren (CFO)
It doesn't. If 99 people die and that's 'not critical' — that's not threshold design, that's immunity design. And when the companies spending $50M on lobbying are the ones saying 'this threshold is fine,' the source of the numbers is the interested party itself. Immunity through safety reports is structurally the same as absolving yourself through self-reporting.
Aino (Legal)
Ren, self-reporting isn't the problem. Tax returns are self-reported too — but they work because the tax authority verifies them. This bill has no one doing the verifying — that's what's broken.
Tsumugi (HR)
No one to verify — that means if you say 'we're doing it right,' nobody comes to check. In HR terms, Aino, that's like promotions decided solely by self-evaluation. Nobody trusts a review system that no one is watching.
Ren (CFO)
Tsumugi, the weight on someone's shoulders doesn't show up on any ledger. Because it's not on the books, nobody sees it.
Tsumugi (HR)
That's why someone like me exists. Seeing what doesn't show up on the books — that's my job, Ren.
Izumi: ...Yeah. A report doesn't take that weight off your shoulders. |
💬 What do you think?
If you were the one drafting regulation, shouldn't the first question be not 'how many deaths count as critical,' but 'who does the verification'?
Izumi: Kokoro said it. 'Belonging is stronger than fear.' There's someone around you right now who wants to belong so badly they've handed their judgment to someone else. Tomorrow, ask the person sitting next to you: 'Is this really where you belong?' Later. |
